German manufacturer, Audi is developing a technology center mirror, rear view digital (digital rear view mirror) that will be installed at R9 Audi e-tron at the end of 2012.
Application of digital mirror technology was first used on a race car Audi R8 Le Mans with no rear glass. A special camera is pinned behind the car, and can see the rear view of the car through a 7.7n-inch sized monitor that is located in the middle of the car, replacing conventional central mirror.
The resulting picture quality digital mirror is very nice though in use at night, or in bad weather conditions though. AMOLED (Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) will make awards in passenger cars. The display uses organic ingredients and has been tested on mobile phones and the like. Of course, with new advanced features, it can increase safety in driving a car.
